Percy Griffin Memorial Tournament

November 23, 2016 by Carlton Cornwall Bowls

Percy Griffin appears to have been the instigator in the formation of the Cornwall Park Men’s and Women’s Bowling Clubs.

Percy Griffin appears to have been the instigator in the formation of the Cornwall Park Men’s and Women’s Bowling Clubs.  He headed the Men’s section as President and Mrs Griffin was Secretary of the Women’s section.  Percy became President again in 1958.  It took nearly four years to set up three greens (two for men and one for the Women’s section).  It seems he died in 1962 aged 69 and probably the memorial tournament was set up sometime after.

Carlton Cornwall Bowls is pleased to have resurrected this tournament which was played on 13 November as a single entry, progressive format.

The winners were:-
Skip – 1st Norman Ng.  2nd Barry Green
Two – 1st Sam Hansen.  2nd Tony Kermode
Lead – 1st Marika Ivanov.  2nd Jordana Franich
